BUILD: Jewellery Box (Mechanically Opening)
Переглядів 19 тис.6 років тому
This is a jewellery box I made for a family member last Christmas. The wood is Walnut with a Black Locust inlay in the top. I had originally planned to make all the parts by hand but fell ill so opted cut several parts on the CNC and 3D print several of the internal mechanisms. The linkages and key plate are all handmade from brass and silver soldered together. The drawers were cut freehand usi...
TIP: Increase your pocket space (EDC Tip)
Переглядів 4,5 тис.6 років тому
This is something I've been doing for many years now. Just take a simple cotter pin and make a hanging pocket clip for your EDC items that don't have them. This will make them hang vertically in your pocket so they don't bunch up at the bottom. TIP: Complementary Curves
Переглядів 3,2 тис.6 років тому
This is a simple tip to make complementary curves using nothing but a compass divider. There are a few ways to do this when laying things out manually, but most aren't easily reproducible. This tip will allow you to make good looking easily reproduced fair curves along any line to spruce up your patterns and designs. This comes straight out of the amazing book. TIMELAPSE: Kids Batman Halloween Costumes
Переглядів 2,7 тис.6 років тому
Just a timelapse of the build process of my children's costumes from this last Halloween. This is the most involved costume that I've made them to date which included: 3d printing, sewing, applique, air brushing, free motion quilting, painting, and 3d modelling in Fusion 360. The masks, batarang, and belt buckle (w/pods) were all designed in Fusion 360 (links below) and 3d printed on my Anet A8...
BUILD: Old School Desk Restoration
Переглядів 143 тис.6 років тому
My wife found this old school desk on craigslist for really cheap but it needed a lot of work. I decided to completely restore it and make all new bent plywood laminations for it, which I covered in antiqued street maps of our city and surrounding areas. I coated all the surfaces in bar top epoxy and buffed the gloss down to a nice satin finish. Check us out at Home Page : tableft.com Instagram...
BUILD: Painting Baby Groot (3d printed from Thingiverse)
Переглядів 25 тис.6 років тому
This was probably the first model I've painted in around 25 years so all in all, I'm pretty happy with how he came out. Firstly let me say this isn't my model, I downloaded it from Thingiverse here www.thingiverse.com/thing:2014307 this video is just the painting process. I first added several light layers of Rustoleum filler primer (spraypaint), then handpainted with "Raw Umber" acrylic paint ...
TIP: Easy wooden handle improvement
Переглядів 6 тис.6 років тому
Just a simple trick to instantly improve the comfort of almost any wooden handled tool. Most any modern tool these days comes with a horrible almost plastic-like coating on the wood. it gives little to no purchase when your hands are wet or sweaty, and it feels cold and plastic to the touch. One of the first things I do when I buy one of these tools it to scrape off the old finish with a card s...

interesting technique, would it be easier-cheaper to use second 5 gallon bucket and lid. cutting the hole same way you cut yours?
Great video. A simple resolution for a difficult problem.
I just tried this with my 12 gauge steel whlire and it works great. I wonder how many times you can twist it until breaks or the strength is reduced
It worked for me
You can also use a type of canvas cover over your magnets so that when they are dirty you just got to pull it off
And yet there’s no such instruction on the cans!
What if you have to drill a dowel that's 2 ft long?
I don’t understand. How r u making two marks on the same side? U go from corner to mark and then u go somewhere in the middle to make another mark. What r u marking? There are four corners but the second d mark u make tht makes the x is coming out of nowhere
